Parish Visitors of Mary Immaculate

History

The Parish Visitors of Mary Immaculate was established by Mother Mary Teresa Tallon in 1920 in order to reach out to Catholics who have fallen away. Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Wichita

History

The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary have a long history spanning back to the foundation of the community by Fr. Joaquin Masmitja in Spain. A new community was established in California, but by the 1960s, the community splintered due to disputes within the IHM community. Three sisters in their 60s packed up everything and moved to the wheat fields of Wichita, Kansas. Mother Joanne, Sr. Giovanni, and Sr. Eileen trusted in God, and today their community is thriving, having just built a new Novitiate house to accommodate their growing numbers of Sisters in formation!

Charism

Each Sister reflects upon Mary's yes, making it her own.
The Sisters are Eucharistic, liturgical, contemplative, and Marian.
EUCHARISTIC: Each Sisters makes a Holy Hour during the day, and they have nocturnal adoration during Fridays.
LITURGICAL: The Sisters attend daily Mass so as to grow close to their Beloved. They also pray the four main hours of the Divine Office, the beautiful prayer of the Church.
CONTEMPLATIVE: The Sisters spend much time in silent prayer before the Lord, and they contemplate the Word every day.
MARIAN: It's hard to explain just how Marian the IHMs are. They love Mary, desire to imitate Mary so as to better imitate Christ, and rely on her to lead them ever closer to Jesus.

IHM SPIRITUALITY: Marian. Each Sister strives to live out her own "Fiat" in imitation of Mary's. "Mary at the foot of the Cross completes her fiat as she accepts all of the sufferings Christ undertook for the redemption of the world; taking Mary as their model the Sisters participate in these mysteries throughout their own lives for the conversion of sinners and the sanctification of priests.":
